MOTOR STARTER RUN STOP JOG WITH BELL

IMAGE

To the right is an illustrated schematic animation that contains a three phase motor starter with start/stop/jog buttons and warning bell.

A warning bell informs personnel that the motor is about to start.

MS1 is the motor starter.

CR1 is a control relay with two sets of normally open contacts.

TR1 is a on delay timer with one normally open and one normally closed contact.

When power is sent to the coil of an on delay timer it starts timing when the timer reaches the preset the timers contacts switch state. see Introduction To Timers to learn more about timers.

When the jog button is pushed the path shown in red (Wire #3) energizes TR1 (On Delay Timer Relay 1).

The path also go thru TR1 normally closed contact (wire #7) to the bell.

When the timer reaches its preset both TR1 contacts switch state removing the path to the bell (wire #7) and energizing MS1 (wire #4) Turning on the motor until the jog button is released.

When the start button is pushed the path is complete to CR1 (wire #6), both CR1 normally open contacts close, wire 3 sends power to the TR1 timer just the same as the jog did but this time when MS1 turns on the path to CR1 is maintained thru the CR1 and MS1 contacts wires 2 5 6.

So the circuit will stay on until the stop button is pushed.
