To the right is an illustrated schematic animation that contains
a three phase motor starter with start stop and jog buttons.
MS1 is the motor starter's coil.
CR1 is a control relay.
When the jog button is pushed the path to the MS1 is complete and the motor is on only as long as the jog button is down.
When the start button is pushed the path to the CR1 relay is complete, both of the CR1, normally open contacts close, the bottom one holds the path to the CR1 relay after the start button is released and the other CR1 contact completes the path to the motor starter's coil.
This circuit is maintained until the stop button breaks the circuit's path.
